This area is one of the earliest sites of whaling. The Wampanoag tribe members harvested whales from small boats and the shore, using harpoons, long before the 19th-century industry of whaling became the major maritime industry of Martha’s Vineyard.
The Overlook is a perfect location to take in the majestic view of Gay Point Light and the Aquinnah Cliffs. There are some quaint shops at the overlook location which also provides a wonderful view of the South shore. A perfect spot to sit and reflect on the beauty of Martha’s Vineyard.
The views from the top are breathtaking.
